Tonga Power Limited confirms that the widespread power outage experienced across parts of Tongatapu on Thursday, 30 July 2026, was caused by two separate faults affecting key parts of the high-voltage electricity network.

TPL’s operational teams responded immediately to locate and isolate the affected sections and progressively restore electricity supply. Power has now been restored to all affected areas.

The Board approved the concession to low usage consumers on its 3 Years Business Plan from 2025/26 - 2027/28. That is 70 seniti/KWH for 2025/26, 65 seniti / KWh for 2026/27 and 60 seniti / kWh 2027/28. The low usage concession applies from 01 July, 2025 to consumers who use 150kwh or less throughout the three-year Business Plan Period.
