We are all responsible for the safety of our family, friends and people around us. It is important to make sure that we are all safe around power. Tonga Power kindly requests members of the public to inform us immediately if they see or come across any low lying power lines in their areas. Tonga Power is concerned that low lying power lines pose serious injury or even an electrocution risk if people come in contact directly or indirectly with these power lines.
Tonga Power has around 638km of overhead power lines throughout Tongatapu, 167 km of overhead lines in Vava’u, 47 km of overhead lines in Ha’apai and 56 km overhead lines in ‘Eua. These power lines can become low due to strong winds and heavy rainfall which cause power poles to lean.
Tonga Power seeks your assistance in reporting any low lying power lines in your area immediately. Tonga Power has also received reports of trucks pulling down overhead power lines when these trucks are transporting “high loads”. Any fallen power line should always be assumed as alive, DO NOT TOUCH IT. Members of the public are instructed to stay away from these fallen power lines and report the matter to Tonga Power Limited immediately.
PLEASE TREAT ALL LINES LIVE AT ALL TIMES. If you have to report any low hanging or unsafe wires please call our emergency number 944.
