Tonga Power customers who prefer to pay their power bills in person can do so closer to home.
In collaboration with Western Union Fexco, the service agreement between the two companies means that Tonga Power’s customers can now pay their power bill at any Western Union office in Tongatapu during business hours from Monday to Friday at 8:30am to 4:30pm and Saturday from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
John van Brink, Tonga Power CEO said “we looked at the problems faced by some members of the community, especially with the long distance of travelling to town and the long wait to pay their power bill at our office”.
We then decided to approach Western Union for help. This service will improve customer service and lower our disconnection list, he said.
Western Union Fexco’s CEO, Robina Nakao said that they are delighted to be helping out.
She said that their nine offices in Tongatapu will open to the members of the public with this new service. These offices are located at the Fund Management Building in Nuku’alofa, Kapeta office opposite the Queen Salote College, Nukunuku, Poutaha, Vaini, Tatakamotonga, Fua’amotu International Airport, Talamahu market, Vaini and at the Flea Market at Ma’ufanga.
Steven ‘Esau, Tonga Power’s Finance Manager said that this service would also enable members of the public receiving money at Western Union from their family abroad to pay their power bills at the same time and this is an advantage for them. They no longer have to come a long way to the Tonga Power office and pay their power bill.
Customers can also pay their power bills via the ANZ ATM, online with Westpac and ANZ bank and Digicel through mobile money.
