A foreman meter reader who had worked for Tonga Power for eleven years passed away on Sunday, March 9th, 2014 at his residence at Tu’atakilangi, Tongatapu from a sudden stroke. Paula Finau, age 44, was a long-time member of the Free Wesleyan Church at Tu’atakilangi, beloved husband of Viniola Finau, loving father of Laiteli Finau, Hale Finau, Kaloafu Finau and Salome Finau.
Two months after his death, Viniola received her late husband’s life insurance settlement on Thursday, 8th May 2014 at the Tonga Power head office in Nuku’alofa. Present at the settlement offered was Sakopo Lolohea, the agent representing Willis NZ Ltd in Tonga and Tonga Power’s Administration Manager, ‘Alisi Tu’inukuafe.
Tonga Power’s Chief Executive, John van Brink, stated, “the unfortunate passing away of one of Tonga Power’s employees recently has brought home to us again how much we all have to look after our wider families. A situation like this places a huge amount of stress on the immediate family. Our Board has recognised this some time ago and put in place comprehensive insurance cover for all staff, which includes death and also disability (where a person cannot continue working). We thank our insurers for meeting their commitments and trust and pray that the payment made will help remove some of the strain and sorrow in the deceased’s family.”
Paula will be especially missed for his faith, his positive attitude and his dedication to his service in his church and community. We are all blessed to have known this diligent man and he will be sorely missed.
